Dancing towards Solutions
I have written elsewhere about my interest in combining the solution-focused approach and physical movement, the dance movement practice of the 5Rhythms in particular. I’m currently feeling more excited about this than ever, having recently written a paper on the topic, Dancing towards Solutions, which you can read here. This has been written for a conference book to accompany this year’s European Brief Therapy Association (EBTA) conference in Torun, Poland www.ebta2012.eu. This is promising to be one of the most interesting EBTA conferences yet, given the enthusiasm of Tomasz Switek and his fellow organisers for ‘Upside Down’ approaches to solution-focused practice. Very fitting as Torun is the birthplace of Copernicus, who of course turned astronomy and our view of the place of our world in the universe on its head 500 years ago.
The paper is already attracting interest amongst 5Rhythms teachers – I would really welcome views from other quarters too, including from within the solution-focused world, both the right-way-up and upside-down ones.
